These pickups started out with me wanting to capture the tone and feel of a 1963 SG that came through the workshop. The pickups themselves were a PAF/PATENT No, crossover. Over the course of 4 years making and testing different versions I finally settled on the Classic Set and have been offering these in this form since late 2019.

They capture the articulation, clarity and harmonic overtones of the original set but without the price tag of a historically ‘cloned’ PAF/PATENT No. set.

An ‘Overwound’ option on request to have an output closer to a late 50’s PAF.

“Rick wound these for my mahogany thinline, without covers. It's now my main guitar for live and recording work. These pickups have incredible touch sensitivity. Through my 64 Blackface bandmaster I can get clean finger picked jangle, and then with a bit of attack can get that early breakup and rich harmonics. When needed, it can grunge up the room but it stays very musical. Thanks Rick - these pickups have put my SG with stock Gibson burstbuckers into semi-retirement.” Allan Luke

“Just another mention of how good the pickups you wound for my 339 are – now the honeymoon period is over I’m firmly convinced they’re the best PAF style pickups I’ve ever played in a Gibson. Every time I play I get compliments on my tone, and that’s in no small part because of the pickups. So yeah, will recommend people to you when they ask about them. Just love them hey. Last night just kicking around I even got some Gilmour strat type tones off the neck pickup using my Hermid pick.”

“....post-honeymoon period I still absolutely love the pickups you put in my 339. Just wonderful, and super versatile.” Rodger V. - Overwound Vertigo Classics in a Gibson Custom Shop 339
